Nouns

     NOUNS are words that stand for a person, place, thing, or idea.
They can be SINGULAR ( one ) or PLURAL ( more than one ).
     COMMON NOUNS do not need to begin with a capital letter.
     A PROPER NOUN is a name given to a specific person, place, or
thing. Proper nouns begin with capital letters.

     Each sentence below contains one common noun and one proper
noun. Complete the chart below to indicate which words they are. The
answers for the first sentence have been printed in for you.

1.  Was Megan a well behaved girl?
2.  This city is smaller than Chicago.
3.  A man like Richard is hard to find.
4.  Sears is a very popular store.
5.  Sunny Florida will always be my favorite state.
6.  I don’t want just any soda, I want a Pepsi!
7.  All the kids wish they could be like Chris.
8.  There are few countries as beautiful as Canada.
9.  Try not to step on my new Nike shoes!
10. Don’t even hope to beat Jeff; he’s the fastest runner here.
