4. If a man was born at the last second of the eighteenth century, he would have lived 100 years by the last second of the nineteenth century. In just one more second, it would be the twentieth century.

The problem is ambiguous.

The student is required to indicate how many years the man must live. If you will accept an answer rounded off to the nearest year, 100 years is correct.

Technically, however, exactly 100 years is not enough time.

If one tries to use a fraction or decimal after the 100, that number could be infinitely small. Seconds are not sacred.

If we insist on whole units, 101 years would be the minimum.

This problem can be used as the basis of a good discussion.
